In light of the two initiatives launched by His Highness the Crown Prince - may Allah protect him - “The Green Saudi Arabia” and “The Green Middle East” in order to achieve a sustainable environment, and believing in the research role of King Faisal University through its institutional identity, represented in contributing to achieving food security and environmental sustainability, the “Second International Conference on Food Security and Environmental Sustainability” has come as an extension of the unremitting efforts made by the university to achieve effective scientific enrichment in this development field in line with its strategic research plan, and as a contribution to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as well as the national initiatives launched within its framework to contribute, through this conference, to promoting awareness of the importance of food security through a scientific review of the reality of national and Arab food security and its most prominent challenges, ways to overcome them, discussing the most prominent modern technologies and mechanisms for their employment to serve food security and environmental sustainability, and to shed light on the mechanisms and scientific issues to reduce food loss and waste, and to offer appropriate research solutions to deal with challenges and critical issues, and to identify the most prominent modern practices in environmental sustainability and its role in development.

As this conference enjoys the participation of high-level experts, specialists and researchers from inside and outside the Kingdom, in which they present scientific papers and workshops characterized by specialization and scientific depth, we a aspire that this conference will be one of the most prominent international scientific platforms for the meeting of experts and specialists in food security and environmental sustainability, and an opportunity to present Scientific solutions in light of global challenges related to food security and environmental sustainability, looking forward to outputs that, Allah willing, contribute to supporting national and international scientific efforts, and enriching knowledge that supports development plans.
