King Faisal University is to Launch the Food Security and Environmental Sustainability Hackathon
King Faisal University is launching the Food Security and Environmental Sustainability Hackathon on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 AD until November 2, 2023 AD in the Dome Hall on the university campus. The hackathon aims to integrate a group of innovators, developers and experts in the field of food security, environmental sustainability and artificial intelligence, by forming teams to innovate digital solutions and develop applications and technologies that help achieve a better future for food security and environmental sustainability.
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Barrak, Supervisor of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, pointed out that the hackathon contains four tracks in environmental sustainability, which are: the track of environmental protection and pollution reduction, the track of waste management and recycling, the track of rationalizing water consumption, and the track of sustainable energy, in addition to five tracks in food security: the track of reducing food loss and waste, the track of enhancing food safety and quality, the track of developing plant and animal production, the track of reducing plant pests and animal epidemics, and the track of the logistical food supply chain.
The number of projects registered in the hackathon reached 202, in addition to 15 Extensions, as the working hours in the hackathon are 15 hours.
