Obstacles of Applying Learning Communities to Northern Borders University: A Faculty Perspective

Abstract

The present study aims to identify the obstacles of applying learning communities to Northern Borders University from the perspective of faculty members. It also investigates the statistically significant differences in these obstacles according to gender, specialization, and experience. The author adopted the descriptive survey approach and applied a questionnaire to a randomly selected sample of 210 faculty members. The results showed that the obstacles of applying learning communities to Northern Borders University from the faculty perspectives were high. While the organizational, knowledge, and financial obstacles were high, the human obstacles were moderate. There were no statistically significant differences in the mean responses of the participants to the obstacles of applying learning communities to Northern Borders University due to specialization and experience. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences in the mean responses of the participants to the obstacles of applying learning communities to Northern Borders University due to gender and the results favoured males.
