Some Phonetic Manifestations of Yamani Accents in the Jordanian Dialect in South Jordan

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the relationship between modern time contemporary Arabic and the ancient Al Yamineih accents to explain the origin of slang words in modern time. The work examines some ancient Al Yamineih accents that were spotted by some dictionaries and language resources and their impact on the local dialects in Jordan through the survey of language patterns and words attributed to Al Yamineih accent at phonetic level. In addition, the study tends to show the link between Al Yamineih accent with the spoken dialects in contemporary Arabic, in order to consolidate these dialects and link them with ancient heritage dialects. Using the descriptive approach, the work attempted to determine Al Yamineih accents in the lesson language. In addition, it examined the critic of these accents, and then track the structures of language attribution that was related to Al Yamineih accent, particularly those reported by Al Khaleel, Ibn Duraid, and Al Humairi. It also stated which are still used in the common language in modern era. Finally, the researcher concluded that the historical background and the vast geographical extension form a common environment for Al Yamineih originated dialects.
