The Psychological Resilience and its Relationship with Social Adaptation among Syrian Refugee Students in Jordan

(Lina Faleh Tahat)

Abstract

The present study examines the level of psychological resilience and its relationship with social adaptation among Syrian refugee students in Jordan. These variables play a significant role in protecting refugee students from psychosocial disorders. The sample of the study consisted of 331 students (184 male and 147 female students), who were randomly selected from public secondary schools in Irbid. To achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive and correlative approach was used. The author has relied on previous studies to develop two measures: psychological resilience and social adaptation. The results of the study revealed that the levels of psychological resilience and social adaptation among the students in the sample were moderate. They also revealed a positive correlation between the levels of psychological resilience and social adaptation within the sample group. Gender was not shown have any statistically significant bearing on the levels of psychological resilience measured in individuals within the sample group" might express your meaning more clearly.
