Designing an Adaptive E-learning Environment and its Effectiveness in Developing E-lesson Design Skills for Student Teachers

(Abdullah Kholifh Alodail and Maha Saad Alsaeed)

Abstract

The study aims to examine how effective an adaptive e-learning environment is in the development of e-lesson design skills for student teachers at Al-Baha University. A quasi-experimental method was used for the purpose of this study. The study standard consisted of an achievement test and an observation checklist. For the purpose of the study the sample students were divided into two groups, a control group and an experimental group, with 22 students in each group. The study results showed a statistically significant difference at a level of α≤0.05 in the cognitive achievement test, with the post-test in favor of the experimental group in lesson design skills. There was also a significant difference of α≤0.05 found in the observation checklist, with the post-test in favor of the experimental group in lesson design skills. The study concludes that an adaptive electronic learning environment is an effective element in teaching and learning and stresses the need for student teachers learning e-lesson design skills to be trained through an adaptive electronic learning environment.
