Effective Teaching Strategy and Its Role in the Implementation of Physical Education Curriculum from the Perspective of Irbid and Ajloun Governorates’ Teachers

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying teachers’ viewpoint of teaching strategy in the governorates of Irbid and Ajloun, Jordan. In addition, determining the impact of gender, educational qualification, and experience on its practicing by teachers in the areas of teaching principles, tasks, and academic achievements. The study sample consisted of (156) teachers from the Governorates of Irbid and Ajloun, in the academic year 2009/2010. To collect data and to achieve these objectives, the work utilized descriptive analytical approach. The standard perceptions of physical education teachers of the effective teaching concepts, designed by Al-Saghir, was used. The Study results showed that a moderate practicing degree of physical education effective teaching strategy was found for the three areas of the study. It also indicated that statistically significant differences (? ? 0.05) was reported for teachers estimates of the degree of practicing active teaching for the three respective areas elementary and secondary stages schools in Irbid and Ajloun due to gender in favor of males. The results also revealed statistically insignificant differences (? ? 0.05) in teachers’ estimates of active teaching strategies practicing due to educational qualification or the years of experience variables.
