Improving Performance Evaluation at King Faisal University Colleges Using Experiences and Experiment of Academically Accredited Universities

This study aimed to evaluate the educational process in the King Faisal University faculties by measuring the performance indicators of inputs and outputs of the educational process, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the potentials and programs offered by faculties of the university, and submitting of proposals and the appropriate means to overcome them. The study sample consisted of 151 faculty members at the university who were selected by a stratified random way equal to 16.3% out of the 921 members ranked as assistant professors teaching at the different faculties of the university. The study attempted to answer the following questions:
The first question: What are the quality standards used to evaluate the performance of the teaching staff members in the faculties of King Faisal University, as seen by the study subjects?
The second question: What is the degree of availability of the evaluation standards system in the units of academic accreditation in the colleges of King Faisal University in the following areas: evaluation system of colleges, methods of data collection, analyses and evaluation, use of data to improve the programs according to the viewpoint of the study subjects?
The third question: What is the degree of achieving quality standards in the educational process output of the programs according to the viewpoint of the study subjects?
The study used four tools designed to answer its question. The tools were verified by testing the credibility of the content using Kronbach Alpha whose values ranged between (0.7740-0.9690).
The study revealed high attitudes adopted by the study subjects toward applying international standards to evaluate the quality of learning performance in the areas of: research, teaching, and community service.
At the same time, the study revealed lack of criteria for evaluating the performance quality in some colleges. The results also indicated the presence of a high availability of evaluation system standards in the units of academic accreditation at King Faisal University colleges in the areas of colleges evaluation system, methods of data collection, data analyses, and data evaluation.
The study revealed subjects dissatisfaction towards the academic programs offered by the colleges. The study recommends the adoption of criteria for evaluating the performance of the faculty members, and the study suggested criteria for assessing academic performance. It also indicated the necessity to activate the accreditation units in the university, and emphasized its role that should lead the university to become an organization capable of domestic and international competition. The study also emphasized the need to develop educational programs to suit the fast development and acceleration of knowledge in various area.
