Effect of Cooking on the Approximate Chemical Composition of Some Popular Fish in Al-Hassa

Abstract

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of diets containing different amount of fish oil and omega-3 fatty acids (in the form of fish meat and pure fish oil) on the plasma lipid profiles in hyperlipidemic rats. Forty two hyperlipidemic Wistar albino male rats were randomly divided into 7 groups, each group was fed one of four diets , one balanced diet (control) and three experimental diets containing different amount of omega-3 fatty acids and 2 or 4 times of feeding per week for 10 weeks .The biochemeical tests were performed to determine the levels of triglycerids (TG) , total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol
