Abstract

The project deals with how to use the decorative heritage units in Al Ahsa for getting multiple design solutions for mural art that can be put in tourist facilities, As the folklore in Al Ahsa is full of decorative vocabulary that gives the artwork a distinctive artistic character with an authentic character and to emphasise the heritage identity of the Saudi society, the researcher considered that the vocabulary of the study should be from the decorative units derived from the popular heritage in Al Ahsa, which can be used to obtain multiple design solutions for mural art with a contemporary artistic and plastic vision. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher followed the descriptive, analytical and experimental method. She described the following points: factors affecting the heritage of Al Ahsa, popular decorative units in the heritage of Al Ahsa, mural art and types. The researcher has collected a variety of decorative vocabularies for a number of popular heritage decorations in Al Ahsa then analysed the selected decorative artworks and finally relied on them to design and implement a number of murals on wooden panels using acrylic colours.
