Dimensions of Inferiority Feelings and Its Relationship with Orientation towards Life of Gaza Strip Martyr’s Wives Sample

Abstract

Inferiority feeling is an experience that affect some people negatively. However, it may improve individual motivation to achieve excellence, perfection, and good orientation towards life. The current study aimed to identify the level of inferiority feelings and orientation towards life and their correlative relationship, in addition to determining the differences of inferiority feelings and orientation towards life according to the variables employment status and age group. The study sample consisted of (125) martyr’s widows. To achieve these goals, the inferiority feelings scale, and the orientation towards life scale prepared previously by Khalidi and Zidane was applied after testing for stability and reliability. The results revealed middle level for social shyness, low self-confidence, and inability to make a decision in addition to a high level of struggle for supremacy. In addition, middle level was found for orientation towards life. The results showed a negative correlation between social shyness, Low self-confidence, and inability to make a decision with orientation towards life. The results also showed a positive correlation between the struggle for excellence and perfection with orientation towards life. There were no statistically significant differences in the inferiority feelings dimensions and orientation towards life according to the variables of employment status, and age group. The study came out with a set of recommendations, including empowerment of psychological widows’ services to overcome social problems, and psychological disorders shown after martyr’s death.
