(Abdullah Ahmed M. Alattas)

Abstract

Field training is a main and significant element in counselors preparing programs as it plays a significant role in the development of counselor’ self and professional efficiency. This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a training program, based on systemic counseling model, on developing counceling self-efficacy for field training students at the University of Umm Al-Qura. The work adopted a semi-experimental methodology with experimental and control groups. The study sample consists of (22) third intermediate grade male students in the University of Umm Al-Qura. Eleven students were assigned to the experimental group and (11) students were assigned to the control group. A counceling self-effecicy scale, and a training program based on systemic council model (prepared by the researcher) were used. The results indicated to the existence of statistically significant differences between the average degrees of experimental group and control group in the post-test of counseling self-efficacy in favor of the experimental group. In addition, statistically significant differences were observed between the average degrees of experimental group students at pre and post-test of counseling self-efficacy in favor of the post-test. In light of the findings, the study recommended adopting the training program into master’s and doctoral degree. Furthermore, it is recommended to designe other training programs based on other models, test their effectiveness, and compare them in oreder to determine the best training methods for students of field training.
