Organizational Health in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate Secondary Schools and its Relationship with Work Engagement among Teachers

Abstract

Educational institutions face many challenges in modern time which affect is efficiency. It is essential to examine possible measures to improve individuals’’ work engagement to meet these challenges. The aim of this work was to identify the level of organizational health in Hafr Al-Batin governmental secondary schools to assess the level of work engagement of male and female secondary school teachers. In addition, it aims to clarify the relationship between the level of organizational health and work engagement and determining the statistical differences attributed to the gender, qualification, and years of experience variables. The work used descriptive approach (survey and correlational) using questionnaire as a research instrument. The questionnaire was applied, after testing for stability and validity, to a random stratified sample of individuals from the research community (1800 teachers), and the final sample consisted of (461) participants from the research community. The research findings indicated that the level of organizational health and work engagement in governmental secondary schools in Hafr Al-Batin was (high). A positive statistically significant correlation (P<0.01) with an average value was found between the level of organizational health and work engagement for male and female teachers. In addition, there was a statistically significant difference between the average responses of male and female secondary school teachers for their estimation of the level of organizational health due to gender and qualification, but not for years of experience. As for work engagement, there were statistically significant differences at (P<0.01) for the dimensions of enthusiasm, devotion, and absorption which were attributed to academic qualification. , while there were no differences for these dimensions due to gender or years of experience. Based on the findings of the research, it could be recommended to establish a formulated model for organizational health in the Saudi environment.
