(Sameeh Ahmad Miqdadi and Mohammed Mahmoud Almegbel)

Abstract

Ibn Jenny is one of the most prominent advanced linguists. His prominence was derived from a number of publications in which he included some significant linguistic views. This research attempts to study these views, draw a clear perception about the nature of his understanding of language on humanitarian bases, in addition to discussing his perception according to his linguistic views. The main finding was that Ibn Jenny's perception of language humanitarian bases, despite being an advance linguist, reflected similarity with modern linguists' perception. It also revealed that his ideas about the relationship between pronunciation and meaning could form a complete theory if it is studied as a whole.
