Performance Status of Al-Ahsa Public Schools Physical Education Teachers in Accordance with Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the status of physical education teacher's performance based on quality standards as well as the situation of physical education lessons based on total quality standards. Descriptive analytical method was used. The research was conducted in Al-Ahsa (Eastern Province), Saudi Arabia. A sample of 72 physical education teachers was selected. The results show that 43.24% of respondents believed that senior leadership in the General Administration of Physical Education are committed to total quality. Furthermore, 53.06% of teachers had a negative response to the statement "attention and focus on the beneficiaries-i.e. physical education teachers". The results also showed that 43.89% of the teachers had a negative response to the statement "Effectiveness of management of the human resources". This indicated that the human element is not fully utilized by the administration. Furthermore, it also revealed that the influence of administrative leadership on teachers is minimal. In addition, there are difficulties in building team spirit, fellowship, and shortage in school administrations compliance to regulations and instructions. In addition, there are obstacles to fair evaluation and rewarding of individuals. For administration interest in continuous improvement of teachers, neutral response had the highest teachers' percentage of responses. Meanwhile, positive attitude recorded the highest score for "teachers' involvement in decision making process and selecting of performance styles". It is recommended to train leading administration staff on quality requirements, to decentralize decision-making, and to follow up the educational process.
