(Mohammad Saed Al- Blowy and Dina Abdulhameed Al-Jamal)

Abstract

Continuous Development of courses is an important issue of the educational process. This study aimed at evaluating the first intermediate grade developed jurisprudence textbook by constructing an evaluation list of criteria, and acknowledging the extent of availability for such list from teachers’ perspectives. The sample of the study consisted of 93 teachers representing Tabouk educational districts. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was constructed that included seven questions domains for evaluating the school textbook in question. Each domain included a number of items which was checked for reliability by a jury of experts. Validity was approved through conducting a pilot study on a sample of 20 other teachers. The Cronbach's alpha equation coefficient for the seven domains was found to be 0.95. Results of the study showed that the evaluation of all domains was highly accepted by the teachers and arranged in the following order: content of textbook, objectives of textbook, evaluative questions, activities and aids, textbook layout, method of presentation, and the introduction of the textbook. The study recommended that the textbook should integrate critical thinking skills, as well as evaluative questions for the content. Key Words: Critical thinking, Islamic education, Textbook.
