Odd Praying Behind Group Row, Narration and Understanding

(Khalid bin Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed Alrubya)

Abstract

It is clear that some scholar disagreements on the Prophet's traditions are due to lack of knowledge, dis-authentication, aims disagreement, or being contradicted to other traditions. One of the traditions that fell within disagreement categories was the narration about odd praying behind group row. This work examined this prophet's tradition narrations regarding tracking their resources, testing their validity or weaknesses, and clarifying their objective and enclosed rules. This was done with consideration of scholars' openinons and judging their evidences. The work presented four statements related to odd praying behind row. Two of these statements were authenticated; Wabissa, and Ali ibn Shaiban narrations which were classified "accurate", while the narrations of Ibn Abass and Abi Huraira were classified "week". The work revealed that Wabissa' narration had minor disagreement that cannot affect the authenticity of the narration. The most agreeable Jurisprudence of this narration is that the prayer of odd person behind the row is invalid whether there was an excuse or not. Key Words: Ali ibn Shaiban, Group prayer, Scholars disagreement, Wabissa.
