Saudi Labor Market Trends for Employing University Graduates According to Gender and Academic Track

Abstract

The Saudi government is working throughout the 2030 Kingdom vision to solve unemployment problem, improve employment rate, and encourage related scientific studies particularly for Saudi universities graduates. This study aims at analyzing Saudi labor market trends in addition to concluding some statistical functions to predict scientifically employment and non-employment status of university graduates. The study was based on analyzing data collected for 55734 graduated from Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal university from 2000 – 2016, as one of the biggest Saudi universities. Analyzed data represent 82% of graduated students between 1979 -2016, which has been obtained from official database. The study mainly based on statistically analyzing and discussing two groups of hypotheses according to gender (male, female) and academic track (medical, engineering, scientific, or literature) according to employment and non-employment status. This study provide predication and indicators that can be used in planning of the major four academic tracks in the Saudi university to determine admission and registration rates in each university. In addition, the study presented some recommendations directed to governmental, in particular the ministries of education, labor, and civil service, in addition to private and educational sectors.
