(The Role of) King Abdul Aziz Modern and Contemporary History of Palestine (1319-1379H = 1902-1953G)

Abstract

The Study consists of: - An introduction to the roots of the Zionist movement and the Palestinian problem and the reasons which led to what is termed "The Arab Palestinian Stubble" or "The Problem of the Middle East" - A comprehensive evaluation of King Abdul Aziz political stance in the development of the Palestinian Question during his first reign (1319-1351 H = 1902-1932 G) - A portrayal of King Abdul Aziz Arab Position: his concern with Arab issues in general and Palestinian issues in particular. - A comprehensive evaluation of King Abdul Aziz political stance in relation to the development of the Palestinian Question during his second reign (1351-1373H. = 1932-1952G). Here the following was discussed: - A portrayal of King Abdul Aziz position with regard to the British policy in Palestine and his rejection of division and the Jewish occupation of Palestine. - His fervent correspondence with world leaders supporting the rights of the Palestinian people to their ancestors land. - A depiction of King Abdul Aziz participation in international conferences and meetings with President Roosevelt of America and the British Prime Minister, Churchill, In addition to meeting ambassadors and diplomats of super powers to present the Arab viewpoint in general and the Saudi one in particular towards the position of those countries regarding Palestine; he demanded an immediate just settlement of the problem. King Abdul Aziz stood in international organizations: the United Nations and the Arab League to explicate the Palestinian Question and to reaffirm the Palestinians natural right of their land. He presented a number of important memoranda to the investigative committees selected by the governments of the super powers; reference was made to the financial and moral support of the Kingdom to the valiant struggle of the Palestinian people to regain their usurped land. The study, moreover, shows the pioneering role of King Abdul Aziz in suggesting a national war of liberation (guerilla war) which he upheld in (1368H = 1948H), demanding that the Palestinians should lead the war supported by all Arabs. He suggested the formation of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) ten years before the actual onset of the present PLO. The study draws from well-documented original sources which were impartiality and objectivity all aspects of King Abdul Aziz gigantic Arab Islamic character.
