(Aasrh Mohammad Ayoub Abu Hdros)

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between perceived social support, with both of self-efficiency in copping disease, and life orientation of cancer patients in the Gaza Strip. It also aimed to test the significance of the previous variables in response to sex, educational level, and the number of years of illness. To achieve this goal, the researcher used three tools prepared by the researcher: the measure of perceived social support, the measure of self-efficiency in copping disease, and the measure of life orientation. The study sample consisted of (118) cancer patients, including (36) males and (82) females. The results of the study showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of perceived social support due to the sex variable. However, differences were found for number of years of illness, or educational level. The results of the study also showed that there was a positive correlation between the level of perceived social support, in one hand with both of the self-efficiency level in copping disease, and life orientation. Key Words: Cancer patients, Gaza Strip, Self efficiency, Social support.
