Use of Sesbania Sesban (L.) Merr Seed Extracts for the Protection of Wheat Grain Against the granary Weevil, Sitophilus Granarius (L.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)

Abstract

Studies on the efficacy of petroleum ether, chloroform and acetone extracts of Sesbania sesban (L.) Merr seeds against Sitophilus granarius in wheat grain revealed that there was significant toxic effects of all extracts on the adults. Based on LC95 concentrations, chloroform extract was the most toxic (3.7 ml/kg), followed by petroleum ether extract (7.4 ml/kg) and acetone extract (15.0 ml/kg).
