Abstract

This paper illustrates when Makkah became holy and the special characteristics of its sanctity. The four major characteristics which maintain its sanctity should be observed by all people. These characteristics were announced by Prophet Muhammad, may Allah grant him peace, in public when the city was held by the Muslims for the first time.
