The effect of Permethrin in the levels of ll..-2 and IL-4 in mice

Abstract

The effect of permethrin was examined in three groups of mice which were orally administered with three different doses 1/5, 1/0 and 1/20 of median lethal dose (LD50) (400, 200 and 100 mg/kg, respectively). Cytokines, IL-2 and IL-4, were used to assess the effect of permethrin in inoculated mice. The level of IL-4 in all groups showed some resistance, while that of IL-2 appeared to be more affected. The level of IL-2 in mice that received 1/20 LD50 was less than that of IL-2 in those mice which received 1/5 LD50. It could be concluded that T- helperl (Thl) cells might be more vulnerable to the effect of permethrin than T - helper2 (Th2).
