Factors Contributing to Low GP

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the main factors contributing to the students low GPA as perceived by a group of the students at King Faisal University. The sample consists of (1115) students from the college of education and (317) students from the department of home economics. The author applied an appropriate questionnaire to collect data. Suitable statistical techniques were used to analyze the date. The study results indicated that the main factors in students low GPA as perceived by the participant were: (1) educational climate factors, which are the most effective ones to cause low GPA, while sociological factors were the least effective. (2) The GPA in high school and the type of student housing made a significant difference in relation to the academic level as effective factors to the student low GPA. On the other hand, there was no difference related to the kind of college, major and social status of the student. Finally the study was ended by some related recommendations.
